History of the Building

The Royal Court
The Royal Court building has been on site for several centuries and dates back from the 12th Century. A second building was ordered to be built by Sir George Carteret in 1647 and was further expanded during 1764-1769 when a new two-storey building was assembled. In 1866 the building was re-built, but was too small and subsequently in 1879 the building was altered to more or less the form we see today.
